Summary
CIVIC STUDIO designed a 175 unit residential masterplan that lead to a nationally recognized planning permission in the market town of Town of Thame, Oxfordshire, the first planning permission of its kind to be adopted through the neighbourhood planning process as enacted through the UK Localism Act 2011. CIVIC STUDIO acted as masterplanners and produced a beautifully rendered and visually accessible design and access statement and design guidelines for our clients, Commercial Estates Group. The masterplanning vision illustrates the results of an interactive public engagement and a design-led process. The highlights include patterns of development that are compatible with historic local townscape and significant amounts of greenspace with particular attention to details such as public gardens, orchards and country lanes, all of which are designed and laid out to complement their surroundings. Masterplanning for Land West of Thame Park Road was chosen by the Canadian Institute of Planners as the Winner of the Award of Merit for the 2015 Awards for Planning Excellence in the category of Neighbourhood Planning.
“The submission includes a beautifully rendered and accessible design brief… prepared by Civic Studio Masterplanning and Urban Design… a job well done and a project Canadian jurisdictions can learn from.”
