CIVIC STUDIO are responsible for Context Appraisal and Character Area Design for a sustainable urban extension to the North-East of Leicester, supporting the masterplanners with targeted and detailed character area design of Key Edges and Gateways using architectural illustrations, detailed sections and townscape visioning.

The scheme will deliver 4,500 new homes, 32 acres of employment space, a district and two local centres providing retail and community facilities, extensive green infrastructure and transport improvements.

CIVIC STUDIO carefully studied and mapped the townscape DNA of the surrounding villages and urban fabric and then worked with our architectural artists to create bold new illustrative visions of future character areas and their sensitive interactions with formal and informal landscapes.

The vision for the new character areas seeks to create a place that works within the landscape and draws from the best of the existing townscape studies and architectural character of the local area while seamlessly integrating with the surrounding area.
